2017 Wedding Videographer Highlights – Living the high life!

Looking back on 2017 and what an amazing year it has been for Story Of Your Day. Our most successful year to date, with so many reasons to be thankful.
I worked with the most fantastic wedding planners and suppliers from all over the world, including celebrity photographers from Miami.
I enjoyed filming weddings in UK, Europe and even further afield in Bahrain and Australia.

My Facebook group for Female Film Creatives went from strength to strength and I became the first ever female videographer to run a Workshop for like-minded women, Evolve Retreats, here in Switzerland.
Here’s a quick round-up of our weddings…
Our first wedding of the year was at the stunning Suvretta House in St Moritz. It was so much fun to film and involved sledging and curling, as well as the actual wedding itself… not on the same day of course!
It was a magical wedding, not least because the snow finally landed in Switzerland during the night before the wedding, leaving a feeling of a winter wonderland for the wedding itself.
In complete contrast to this, our next wedding in April was the most intimate wedding of 2017 that we had the pleasure of capturing. Cory and Jess came all the way over from Australia for a romantic ‘sand ceremony’ at Lake Blausee, also in Switzerland.
Just nine of their close friends travelled with them and, after their ceremony, they enjoyed their wedding meal at the Grillkota Hut at the Sunstar Hotel in Wengen (it couldn’t get more local than that for me!).
My next adventure was in Bahrain where I travelled to film a Royal Wedding for an exclusive production company… with a thousand guests, ALL women apart from the groom, it was a real eye-opener. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much food EVER in my time as a wedding videographer.
The summer months were filled with travelling all over Europe, including the UK, France and Italy.
We filmed at our favourite venue in England, Swinton Park, twice. Firstly for Carol and Alex, who’d travelled over from the US for their wedding on Independence Day, and then for Leeds doctors Rammina and Chris. Both were amazing weddings and I’ve always enjoyed filming Americans because their speeches are very often so enjoyable and full of emotion. And, on this occasion, Alex certainly didn’t disappoint.

We also covered a far amount of miles in France… including Château de la Beuvrière, Dijon Cathedral and not forgetting Château de Chenonceau, one of the most iconic and well-known houses in France.
At the beginning of August, after filming an amazing Arabian wedding at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace at the edge of Lake Geneva with my team, I headed up to Strasbourg for Elizabeth and Guilluame’s wedding at Château de Pourtalès. As well as this wedding being in English, French and German, the couple were from the Frankfurt Opera and capturing the live music from the day was nearly as important to them as capturing the wedding itself.

But I simply cannot forget the ‘wedding of the century’ – that of Victoria Belo and Hayden Kho, celebrity doctors from the Philippines who married at the American Church in Paris and celebrated later at the Paris Opera House. This wedding was made all the more special for us because our work was shared exclusively by Philippine Tatler and I was even interviewed by Cosmo magazine about my experience.

The last wedding that I personally filmed as Creative Director was in Melbourne, Australia in November, that of Sally and Geoff. Travelling almost 12,000 miles was well worth it and I cannot wait to edit this wedding. In the meantime, here’s a little sneak peek.

My team rounded off the year at Goldsborough Hall on a beautiful, frosty yet sunny December morning… I absolutely love these kind of winter days when the sun is low and golden, it’s freezing outside yet warm and cosy inside.
For me, another highlight of this year came just a few days ago when I filmed a surprise proposal on Mannlichen… it’d been snowing here for weeks and the best snowfall Wengen has enjoyed in years in December.
On the day …. the sun came out and it was a glorious and perfect day. I’m really looking forward to sharing the film and how the morning unfolded but until then, here’s a screen shot from when Chen and Esther took to the slopes on sledges after she’d said ‘yes’ …
So, let’s see what 2018 has in store for us. Read Story Of Your Day’s ‘Bucket List’…
